Meta ads cost in India (2026): what you'll really pay per click, per lead and per month

Ask Meta how much Facebook and Instagram ads cost and the honest answer is "whatever you bid." True, and useless when you're trying to plan next month's budget.

So here are the numbers Indian advertisers actually report for 2026: what you pay per 1,000 views, per click and per lead, how much your industry changes that, and how much you need to spend before Meta's algorithm even starts working for you.

The short answer

MetricWhat it meansTypical 2026 range in India
CPMCost per 1,000 impressions₹60 – ₹250
CPCCost per link click₹4 – ₹50 (most accounts ₹5 – ₹30)
CPLCost per lead (form fill, WhatsApp, call)₹100 – ₹400 for most industries; up to ₹2,000 in finance

These ranges come from 2026 benchmarks published by Indian agencies and ad tools. They disagree with each other, sometimes by 3x, because every account is different. Use them to sanity-check your numbers, not as a promise.

Cost per lead by industry

IndustryPublished Meta CPL range (India, 2026)
E-commerce retargeting₹50 – ₹150
Education and EdTech₹150 – ₹400
Automotive₹250 – ₹600
Healthcare₹300 – ₹700
Real estate₹300 – ₹1,500
Banking, finance and insurance₹400 – ₹2,000
B2B SaaS₹500 – ₹2,000

The pattern is simple: the bigger the purchase and the more competitors bidding for the same buyer, the more each lead costs. A ₹1,200 real-estate lead can be a bargain if one in thirty buys a flat. A ₹150 course lead can be a disaster if none of them pay.

Why your number won't match anyone's benchmark

  • Your objective. Ads optimised for traffic get cheap clicks from people who never buy. Ads optimised for leads or purchases cost more per click and far less per customer.
  • Your creative. The same audience can cost half as much with an ad people stop for. Creative is the biggest lever you control, and it wears out: most ads lose steam within a few weeks of heavy spend.
  • The season. CPMs commonly rise 20–50% around Diwali, when every brand in electronics, fashion, jewellery and gifting bids for the same eyeballs. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November, so festive prices are with us right now.
  • Your form or landing page. Instant forms inside Facebook get more leads at a lower cost, and more junk. A landing page with a qualifying question gets fewer, better leads.
  • The time window. One Indian course advertiser's account showed about ₹1,124 per lead across a full year, and about ₹259 over the last 90 days. Same account, same ads platform, very different "average." Always ask: over what period?

Taxes: what Meta actually invoices

Indian ad accounts are billed by Facebook India Online Services Pvt Ltd, and the invoice carries 18% GST on top of your spend. Add your GST number to your ad account and you can usually claim it as input tax credit. Without a GST number, that 18% is a real cost: ₹50,000 of ads costs you ₹59,000.

The old 6% equalisation levy on online advertising was abolished from 1 April 2025, so you won't see it on new campaigns.

How much should you spend per month?

This is where most small budgets quietly fail. Meta's delivery system needs data to learn who converts. The widely used rule of thumb: about 50 conversions per ad set per week to get out of the "learning phase," where results are unstable and expensive.

Do the maths for your own cost per lead:

Your cost per lead50 leads a week costsRoughly per month, one ad set
₹150₹7,500₹32,000
₹300₹15,000₹65,000
₹800₹40,000₹1,73,000

If that's more than you can spend, you have three honest options:

  1. Run fewer ad sets. One or two ad sets at ₹500 – ₹2,000 a day, instead of eight starving ones.
  2. Optimise for an earlier step, like landing-page views or WhatsApp conversations, which happen more often than final leads.
  3. Accept slower learning and judge results over four weeks, not four days. Don't raise or cut the budget sharply every few days: big changes push the campaign back into learning.

Five ways to bring your cost per lead down

  1. Fix tracking first. If Meta can't see which leads turn into sales, it optimises for the wrong people. Set up the Conversions API and clean GA4 events (our GA4 guide for Indian businesses covers the basics).
  2. Refresh creative every 2–4 weeks, and test hooks, not colours. The first three seconds of a reel decide the price of everything after.
  3. Add one qualifying question to your lead form (budget, city, timeline). Your cost per lead rises a little. Your cost per customer falls a lot.
  4. Retarget warm audiences: site visitors, video viewers, WhatsApp contacts. They're the cheapest leads you'll ever buy.
  5. Don't hand everything to automation blindly. Advantage+ campaigns can work brilliantly or burn cash quietly; here's how to make AI ad campaigns profitable.
A cheap lead is not the goal. A cheap customer is. Every advertiser who chases cost per lead alone eventually buys a spreadsheet full of people who never pick up the phone.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good cost per lead for Meta ads in India?

For most industries, ₹100 to ₹400 per lead is typical in 2026. Real estate, finance and B2B run higher, from ₹300 to ₹2,000. A good CPL is one where your cost per paying customer is comfortably below what that customer is worth to you.

What is the minimum budget for Facebook ads in India?

Meta lets you start very small, but results only stabilise with enough data. Small brands commonly run ₹500 to ₹2,000 a day on one or two ad sets. To leave the learning phase on lead campaigns, you need roughly 50 conversions per ad set per week.

Is GST charged on Facebook and Instagram ads in India?

Yes. Meta bills Indian ad accounts through Facebook India Online Services Pvt Ltd and adds 18% GST. GST-registered businesses can usually claim it as input tax credit.

Why are my Meta ad costs higher in October and November?

Festive season. Around Diwali, more brands bid for the same audiences, and CPMs commonly rise 20–50%. Plan creative and budgets early, and raise spend gradually rather than all at once.
